Today, the shiny new sculpture at Lakeside Park saw its shadow, and all of South Norfolk is hoping for an early spring!

The new replica sculpture, made of shiny silver materials, was fabricated by the city of Chesapeake Parks and Rec, the South Norfolk Ruritans, Buddy and Robbie Davis, Andy Overton, Keith Brazil and Gardner Perry — all life-long residents of South Norfolk.

In other news, if you need help with your taxes and you are over 18, you can get help at the South Norfolk Memorial Library from 9-1 on Fridays and Saturdays now through April 14.

Southside Baptist Church, 1200 Bainbridge Blvd., will be offering free financial makeovers through the Bank On Hampton Roads Program. Nischelle Buffalow, a South Norfolk native who devotes her time and efforts to serving others, will be honored as the 2017 Woman of the Year on Feb 10 at 6 p.m. at the Chesapeake Conference Center by the Women’s Division Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce.
